Rachael Vanderwal is a defensive asset for any team and showed her qualities during the Qualifying Round last summer when she was used in short bursts coming off the bench to provide intensity and energy at key moments. She is a tenacious defender and excellent in one-on-one situations. Her dogged ability to contain her opposing player on defensive assignments is impressive while she has the capacity to come up with steals too. With a great attitude to the game and recognised as a hard working team player, the guard can also contribute offensively by knocking down shots if she finds herself open and is likely to play a role coming off the bench once more.
